Job summary

Holt Recruitment Ltd are sourcing a Mobile Plant / Field Service Engineer for Hemel Hempstead and surrounding areas. The role offers £18-£19+ per hour DOE plus a company van and fuel card, with 40 hours per week and overtime paid at time-and-a-half.

You will service, maintain and repair heavy plant machinery, diagnose faults, respond to breakdowns, and complete maintenance and safety inspections while upholding safety standards and providing excellent customer service at customer sites.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and plant engineering experience.
• Confident fault-finding on diesel engines, hydraulics and electrics.
• Able to work independently and manage workload on customer sites.
• Valid UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair heavy plant machinery (including tracked equipment).
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs.
• Complete scheduled maintenance and safety inspections.
• Accurately complete job cards, timesheets and service reports.
• Manage van stock and request parts efficiently.
• Maintain high safety standards and compliance procedures.
• Deliver professional, customer-focused service at all times.
• Work independently across customer sites.
• Support and supervise apprentices where required.

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Mobile Plant / Field Service Engineer to join a well-established machinery business supporting a wide range of heavy plant equipment across the region. This is a field‑based role focused on keeping customer machinery in peak operating condition through servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs.

The Role

• Service, maintain and repair heavy plant machinery (including tracked equipment)
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency call‑outs
• Complete scheduled maintenance and safety inspections
