Job summary

2020 Recruitment is recruiting for a Mobile Plant Engineer on behalf of our industrial client in Scotland. The role involves servicing and repairing mobile plant equipment across a broad geographic area, including excavators, dumpers and telehandlers.

The position is permanent and offers varied work with a reputable employer. You will diagnose faults, carry out servicing and ensure high standards of safety and service on site, with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience working on plant and equipment
• Experience with Jaltest/Texa diagnostic equipment
• Good understanding of 12V and 24V electrical systems
• Hold a driver’s licence
• Must have own tools
• Right to work in UK and live within commutable distance of Fife

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on mobile plant and agricultural equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment (Jaltest/Texa).
• Attend customer sites across Scotland for planned maintenance and breakdowns.
• Complete inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes and running gear.
• Diagnose and repair faults on 12V and 24V electrical systems.
• Read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
• Carry out welding and light fabrication where required.
• Ensure work is safe, efficient and high quality.
• Complete job sheets and service reports in a timely manner.
• Maintain company service vehicle, tools and equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service and professional communication on site.

2020 Recruitment is working with our industrial client to recruit a Mobile Plant Engineer to join their growing team in Fife.

This is a permanent opportunity offering the successful candidate the chance to join a well-established and highly respected business within the industry.

Due to continued growth and increasing demand, our client is expanding their team of Mobile Plant Engineers to provide service and maintenance support across a large area of Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a varied role with a reputable employer, where no two days are the same.

The Role

As the Mobile Plant Engineer, you will be covering various areas and sites across Scotland providing diagnostic and repair to various plant machinery such as Excavators, Dumpers and Telehandlers.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of mobile plant and agricultural equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using manufacturer diagnostic equipment, including Jaltest and Texa.
• Attend customer sites throughout Scotland to carry out planned maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.
• Complete inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
• Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brakes and running gear.
• Diagnose and repair faults on 12V and 24V electrical systems.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and service information.
• Carry out welding and light fabrication work where required.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Complete job sheets and service reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain the company service vehicle, tools and equipment in a clean and roadworthy condition.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with customers on site.

Requirements

• Experience with Jaltest/Texa diagnostic equipment
• A good understanding of 12v and 24v electrical systems
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working on plant and equipment (HGV or Car Mechanics will not be considered)
• Reliable, honest and all-round good guy
• Hold a driver's licence
• Provide high level of customer service
• Must have own tools
• Right to work in the UK and living within a commutable distance of Fife is essential
