Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is recruiting Phlebotomists (Band 2) for permanent posts at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. Posts are full-time or part-time, 37.5 hours weekly, with shifts including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Vehicle access for work travel is required and expenses are reimbursed.

The post involves venepuncture blood collection, teamwork, adherence to SOPs, and professional patient communication. DBS checks and NHS terms apply.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and maths at C grade or above or equivalent.
• NVQ/QFC level2/apprenticeship in related subject.
• Experience of working as part of a team.
• Ability to work to defined protocols and seek advice where appropriate.
• Evidence of manual dexterity and technical work.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organise oneself.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Previous phlebotomy experience would be desirable.
• Must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients using venepuncture and capillary techniques.
• Work independently and as part of a team according to service requirements.
• Be an efficient and flexible member of the phlebotomy team.
• Communicate with patients in a mature, discreet and professional manner.
• Liaise with other healthcare professionals in person or by telephone.
• Work within Phlebotomy SOPs to ensure a high quality service.
• Follow Policies and Procedures of the Department, especially Health & Safety and Quality.
