Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking a Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter for our Clitheroe Quarry operations in Lancashire. You will maintain critical plant equipment across multiple sites, focusing on reliability, uptime and safety, with opportunities to lead small improvement projects.

You will be hands-on, perform planned and reactive maintenance on mobile plant, and work with contractors to keep operations running smoothly. A strong safety focus and practical engineering background are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in quarrying or industrial plant environments.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability.
• Proven ability to carry out effective breakdown repairs.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Basic IT skills for maintenance systems and reporting.
• Solid understanding of health and safety practices.
• Knowledge of mobile crushers, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, belts and vibratory screens.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across mobile plant.
• Respond to plant breakdowns, restoring equipment to service safely and efficiently.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement robust, long-term solutions.
• Support and deliver small engineering and improvement projects.
• Work collaboratively with contractors and site teams.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Undertake welding and fabrication to a high standard.
• Follow risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems.
• Promote and uphold high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
