Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking a Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Fitter based at Clitheroe Quarry, Lancashire. You will maintain mobile plant, respond to breakdowns, and deliver planned maintenance across sites in the Ribble Valley and surrounding area, ensuring safety and reliability of conveyors, crushers, pumps and gearboxes.

This hands-on role requires welding and fabrication skills, a recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent, and the ability to use CMMS for maintenance records.

Qualifications

• Experience in quarrying, industrial plant, or manufacturing environments.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability.
• Proven ability to carry out effective breakdown repairs.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Basic IT skills (maintenance systems and reporting).
• Knowledge of mobile crushers, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, belt sand vibratory screens.
• Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent depth of experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across mobile plant.
• Respond to plant breakdowns, restoring equipment to service safely and efficiently.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement robust, long-term solutions.
• Support and deliver small engineering and improvement projects.
• Work collaboratively with contractors and site teams.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Undertake welding and fabrication to a high standard.
• Follow risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems.
• Promote and uphold high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
