RG Setsquare in South London is recruiting a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to support a high-profile public-sector estate. This hands-on role covers two closely located sites, carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operation of building services and a professional client service.

The ideal candidate will hold Level 2/3 Plumbing, Heating & Ventilation and have commercial FM maintenance experience, including multi-site mobility and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Level 2/3 Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
• Experience in commercial mechanical maintenance or FM
• Ability to work across multiple sites and mobile maintenance environments
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Experience with HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and water systems
• Previous on-call experience and good client communication

Responsabilités

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and repair mechanical building services.
• Maintain AHUs and ventilation systems, including intake and extract systems.
• Maintain FCUs, heating and cooling systems.
• Work on water systems and related assets (booster sets, chlorifiers, water heaters).
• Provide clear updates on works completed and complete service reports.
• Travel between contract sites and participate in an on-call rota.
• Manage workload independently and prioritise tasks.

Mobile Mechanical Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Contract: Full-time

Working Pattern: Mobile, with on‑call requirements

We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to join a leading facilities management operation supporting a high‑profile public‑sector estate across South London.

This is a hands‑on mobile engineering role, responsible for carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across two closely located sites. You will be responsible for ensuring mechanical building services are maintained safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while providing a professional service to the client.

The Role

As a Mobile Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs across a range of mechanical building services.
• Maintaining and repairing AHUs and ventilation systems, including intake and extract systems.
• Maintenance of FCUs, heating and cooling systems.
• Working on water systems and associated assets, including booster sets, chlorifiers and water heaters.
• Responding to client queries and providing clear updates on works completed.
• Completing service reports, inspection records and documentation accurately.
• Identifying remedial works and ensuring issues are appropriately recorded and escalated.
• Travelling between sites within the designated contract area.
• Participating in an on‑call rota as required.
• Working independently while managing and prioritising your own workload.

About You

We are looking for an experienced mechanical building services engineer with a strong background in commercial maintenance or facilities management.

• A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation (City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience within commercial mechanical maintenance or FM.
• Experience working across multiple sites or in a mobile maintenance environment.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and water systems.
• Previous experience participating in an on‑call rota.
• Good communication and customer‑service skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• The ability to work independently and organise your workload effectively.

Clearance Requirement

Due to the nature of the contract, the successful candidate will be required to obtain CTC clearance.

Please be aware that the clearance process can take approximately 7-10 months, so candidates must be willing and able to undergo the required security clearance process.
