Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Multi‑Skilled Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to undertake planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a range of building services. You will operate within a shift team to ensure continuous service delivery and meet client SLAs.

A strong background in HVAC, AHUs/FCUs, and building services is essential. You’ll perform preventative and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and document performance using CAFM, while adhering to health & safety standards and Mitie

• Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of three years post-apprenticeship experience in mechanical maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of building services, HVAC and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across building services plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and complete corrective works safely.
• Monitor and report plant performance, defects, and maintenance activities using CAFM.
• Collaborate within a shift team to meet client SLAs and KPIs with professional standards.
• Ensure all works comply with Mitie policies, health & safety and safe systems of work.

Job description

Role Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across a wide range of building services plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and complete corrective works efficiently and safely.
• Monitor, record, and report plant performance, defects, and maintenance activities using the CAFM system.
• Work collaboratively within a shift team to meet client SLAs and KPIs while maintaining high professional standards.
• Ensure all works are completed in compliance with Mitie Engineering Services policies, health & safety requirements, and safe systems of work.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

• Recognised mechanical apprenticeship with City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of three years post‑apprenticeship experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
• Strong knowledge of building services systems including HVAC, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, motors, and heating systems.
• Proven experience delivering PPM and reactive maintenance within commercial or critical environments.
