Job summary

The AA is launching a Trainee Mobile Mechanic Programme for individuals starting their automotive careers. You’ll learn from experienced technicians with onboarding, technical training, mentoring and shadowing to build hands-on skills on customers’ vehicles.

The programme typically lasts 6 to 12 months, with a starting salary of £28,000 and pay increases as milestones are achieved. Practical training and career progression are offered into other roadside and specialist roles.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 or Level 3 automotive qualification.
• A full UK driving licence.
• A genuine interest in cars and the automotive industry.
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to learn.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• The confidence to talk to and help customers.
• Resilience, reliability and a positive attitude.
• The motivation to build a long-term career.

Responsibilities

• Onboard and train with mentoring and shadowing before taking on more responsibility.
• Gain practical experience on customers’ vehicles, including servicing, inspections and fault finding.
• Develop roadside assistance skills as you progress through the programme.
• Progress through the programme to work more independently.
