Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician within the SMR division to perform pre-booked servicing and repairs at members' driveways or workplaces. You will work in a structured schedule with the necessary tools and support to complete high-quality workmanship.

You will operate from the Nottingham cluster covering local areas with a fully equipped RAC van and a clear, predictable workflow. This is a full-time mobile role with structured hours and excellent earning potential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing and diagnostics on customer vehicles using mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop, delivered at pre-booked appointments.
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection.

• Acompetitive base salary of £40,170, with on-target earnings of up to£52,000

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Nottingham cluster, covering areas like Nottingham, Beeston, West Bridgford, Arnold, Hucknall, Long Eaton. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that.
Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growing part of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.
There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and no roadside recoveries.
Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

What to expect

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, with the member expecting you.

• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuelcard, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. You’ll use your technical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again; safely,quickly and confidently.
