Job summary

JTL is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to assist apprentices across Cumbria, County Durham, Tyne and Wear, North Yorkshire and surrounding areas. The role involves in-class, one-to-one and small-group support while developing independence and confidence in learners.

You will travel regularly to JTL centres and delivery settings, supporting learning plans, adjustment strategies and safeguarding practices to help apprentices progress through their programmes.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Teaching & Learning at Level 3 or equivalent, or willing to work towards one.
• GCSE Math and English at Grade 4/C or above.
• Experience supporting learners with additional needs in education or training.
• Experience delivering practical support to individuals or small groups.
• Awareness of learning difficulties and barriers to learning.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class, one-to-one and small-group support per Learning Support Plans.
• Help apprentices overcome barriers to learning and build independence.
• Deliver study skills and targeted support for learning and assessment.
• Provide examination support, including reader or scribe where required.
• Prepare and adapt learning resources to meet apprentice needs.
• Maintain accurate records of support and reviews.
• Support adjustments with Tutors and Training Officers.
• Promote inclusive practice and reasonable adjustments.
