Job summary

NG Bailey Facilities Services is recruiting a Mobile Lead Electrical Technician to cover a portfolio of sites around Cambridge. You will lead the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical building services, ensuring compliance, client relationships and mentorship of engineers.

Ideal candidates hold NICEIC QS or are keen to develop into QS role, with significant building services experience and a strong safety record.

Qualifications

• Electrical qualifications and registration requirements are essential.
• Knowledge of health and safety guidelines and HASAWA is required.
• Experience with building services PPM schedules and site-based client liaison is expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the team to complete PPM, remedial and reactive tasks within SLA.
• Support the Site Supervisor with day-to-day contract delivery and supervision.
• Act as deputy during leave or absence and maintain accurate logs and documentation.
• Manage on/off-site contractors via a Permit to Work scheme.
• Monitor plant performance using BMS and CAFM systems.

Due to continued growth and the successful expansion of local contracts, NG Bailey Facilities Services is looking to recruit a Mobile Lead Electrical Technician to support a portfolio of sites across the Cambridge area.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will lead the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of electrical and mechanical building services systems. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will take ownership of service delivery, statutory compliance, and client relationships while supporting and mentoring engineers across multiple contracts, including schools, educational facilities, and commercial buildings.

We are particularly interested in candidates who hold NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS) status. However, we would also welcome applications from experienced electrical professionals who are keen to develop into a QS role and are looking for the support and training to achieve this qualification

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the team to work efficiently and safely to complete PPM’s, remedial and reactive tasks to resolve all client issues within agreed SLA’s.
• Support the Site Supervisor in the day-to-day delivery of the contract.
• Act as deputy to the Site Supervisor during periods of annual leave, training, sickness or absence.
• Ensure all statutory documentation and logbooks are kept up to date and available for inspection and audit when required.
• To manage Contractors on and off site via a Permit to Work scheme.
• Monitor and manage plant performance via BMS and CAFM systems
• Adherence to set engineering standards in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA).
• Oversee incident management, escalations, and emergency response procedures
• Maintain accurate shift logs, technical reports, and operational documentation
• Supervise contractors and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient delivery
• Support energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
• To ensure onsite Quality Assurance procedures are adhered to in all aspects, and to maintain accurate records and documentation associated with all electrical and mechanical systems.
• Hours are Monday to Friday 40 hrs per week

Requirements

• NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 – Electrical Discipline.
• Recognised Electrical apprenticeship
• IOSH Working and or Managing Safely
• 18th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations.
• City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection and Testing (desirable).
• Statutory compliance knowledge in Water hygiene to include ACOP L8 and TMV inspections. Pressure systems to include expansion vessels, safety valves and pressure relief systems. HVAC compliance to include F-Gas awareness and ventilation maintenance.
• Experienced in the electrical and mechanical aspects of building services PPM schedules, and SFG20..
• Competent working knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Systems, Building Management Systems, Lighting Control Systems, Heating and Ventilation Systems, Emergency Generators and UPS.
• Client facing commercial FM background.
