Job summary

NG Bailey is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to oversee maintenance of a new commercial building on a long-standing contract in London. You will supervise a team, ensure high standards in HVAC, pipework installations, and compliance with HASAWA, while maintaining records and coordinating with the CAFM system.

You will lead on fault diagnosis using BMS controls, guide on-the-job training, and manage spares and parts to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

• Experience in building services maintenance and HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of HASAWA requirements and HSE standards.
• Experience supervising a team and coordinating workload.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to engineering standards in line with HASAWA requirements and ensure team compliance.
• Maintain QA documentation for HVAC plant and mechanical systems.
• Utilise BMS and control systems for fault diagnosis and setup.
• Supervise and develop the team, including safety briefings and performance reviews.
• Undertake repairs and alterations to pipework and mechanical plant.
• Respond to helpdesk maintenance issues promptly and manage parts through CAFM.
• Coordinate supply chain reviews for quoted/project works.

Summary

NG Bailey is hiring a Mechanical Supervisor to join our team, overseeing the maintenance of a new commercial building on a long-term, prestigious client contract we've proudly held since 2012 based in Moorgate, Ropemaker Street, EC2Y

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

• Adherence to set engineering standards in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) requirements, ensuring that the engineering team also comply.
• To ensure onsite Quality Assurance procedures are adhered to in all respects and to maintain accurate records/documentation associated with the mechanical/HVAC aspects of the plant.
• Have a good understanding of BMS and Control Systems associated with Mechanical Plant and Equipment to assist fault diagnosis and correct set up.
• Supervise the team in all aspects of work, undertaking people management activities such as Safety Briefings, absence reporting, performance reviews, annual leave and timesheet approvals. Plan and arrange staff training to support their development.
• Ensure that you and the team undertake repairs to HVAC Plant and Associated Systems to a high standard.
• Ensure that you and the team undertake installation, alteration and repairs to pipework systems as needed to a high standard and in good time to minimise impact of downtime.
• To support and guide your team with on-the-job training and development through your own experience and competence
• To respond in a prompt and effective manner to any Helpdesk related reactive maintenance issues, associated with the heating and ventilation systems, pumps, water tanks, valves, pipework and associated mechanical systems or as directed, ensuring that your team do similar.
• Ensure that all necessary systems and portals are utilised to capture work output including use of the CAFM system.
• Ensure effective supply chain management through regular reviews and interaction, particularly in the planning of quoted/project works.
• Manager spares effectively and order required parts to complete tasks on time

What we’re looking for

An experienced Contract Supervisor working to a high standard of building services provision the utmost regard for customer service.

• NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 - Plumbing, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 6187 or similar
• Electrical qualifications (Would be a bonus, but not essential)
• Experienced in the electrical and mechanical aspects of general building service, repair, and installation
• Exceptional knowledge and experience working with and repairing Mechanical Systems and Heating and Ventilation Systems
• Knowledge of electrical principles including safe isolation, controls and basic fault finding
• Use of BMS to fault find any issues
• Authorised Person – Mechanical (Desirable)
• Experience working with a large team of varying abilities.
