Job summary

United Plant Services is seeking a Mobile Heavy Mechanical Engineer in Chelmsford to maintain, repair, and inspect a wide range of heavy plant equipment, ensuring safety and productivity for customers. You will diagnose faults, perform planned maintenance, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent, substantial hands-on experience with heavy equipment, and the ability to work independently under pressure.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy plant equipment and machinery.
• Experience with leading manufacturers such as Liebherr, CAT, Komatsu or Volvo.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
• Customer-focused approach and strong communication skills.
• Flexible, positive and committed attitude.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on heavy plant equipment.
• Diagnosing faults across hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Completing planned preventive maintenance and thorough inspections.
• Delivering excellent customer service and handling queries.
• Complying with health, safety and environmental policies.
• Completing job reports and ordering required parts.
• Maintaining company vehicle to a high standard.
• Building and maintaining strong customer relationships through service quality.
