Description and Requirements

Our Building Services division provides comprehensive Facilities Management across the UK, including mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering, and grounds maintenance, utilizing technological solutions for efficient team management.

We are seeking a Mobile Fabric Engineer to join the Commercial Property Maintenance team on a project in Essex. The role is mobile, requiring a full clean driving license. An enhanced DBS check is mandatory and will be arranged for the successful candidate. The role involves emergency site cover, participation in out-of-hours call-out rota, and reporting directly to the Senior Premises Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering excellent engineering services and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities include:
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance as per PPM plan, Helpdesk, and line manager instructions.
  • Performing minor carpentry repairs, including doors, windows, timber constructions, and fixing shelves and noticeboards.
  • Seasonal gritting as directed, including out-of-hours work due to weather conditions.
  • General labour duties such as school setups, pool maintenance, gutter and drain clearing, and litter management.
  • Preparing premises for events and activities, and post-event cleanup.
  • Monitoring heating systems to maintain temperature and hot water supply.
  • Supporting emergency procedures for fire, flood, break-ins, and major damages.
  • Managing premises and grounds opening routines and responding to out-of-hours alarms or incidents.
  • Assisting with subcontractor activities on-site.
  • Flexibility to support evening/weekend events and occasional lettings.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong planning and prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Maintenance or handyperson experience.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
  • Proficiency with computers and mobile devices.
  • Team player with flexibility.
