The role requires Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification and 18th Edition, with a full UK driving licence. It includes an on-call rota, a company van, and opportunities for overtime earnings.

Qualifications

Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (2365 or equivalent).
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) – Essential.
Experience in facilities management or building services environment.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
Reactive electrical maintenance and fault-finding.
Electrical testing, inspection and remedial works.
Repairs to lighting, power, distribution boards and electrical systems.
Diagnose HVAC and mechanical plant faults.
Monitor and maintain building services systems.
Complete compliance checks and maintenance documentation.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with regulations.

Mobile Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Reading £40,000 - £43,000 + Van + On-Call Allowance Company Van Provided 1 in 5/6 On-Call Rota Government Contract

We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading facilities management provider supporting a prestigious government contract.

Based primarily at Reading Crown Court, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of secure buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer looking for a long-term position with a stable contract and varied workload.

While this is an electrical role, applicants should have some understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems, as building services plant forms a key part of the estate. You will be expected to diagnose faults, understand plant operation and work alongside other disciplines when required.

Key Responsibilities

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Reactive electrical maintenance and fault finding
Electrical testing, inspection and remedial works
Repairs to lighting, power, distribution boards and electrical systems
Diagnosing HVAC and mechanical plant faults
Monitoring and maintaining building services systems
Completing compliance checks and maintenance documentation
Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with regulations
Participating in the on-call rota following probation

Requirements

City & Guilds Part 1 & Part 2 qualifications also considered

Experience within a facilities management or building services environment
Strong electrical fault-finding skills
Good understanding of HVAC and mechanical plant
Full UK Driving Licence
Must live within a commutable distance of Reading
Must be able to attend emergency call-outs within one hour

Location

Your primary site will be Reading Crown Court. Occasional travel may be required to other nearby sites including Slough, Staines and Oxford to provide operational cover when needed.
