Job summary

WR Environmental is seeking a Mobile Chemist to service client sites across Hampshire, travelling from Southampton and surrounding areas. The role involves identifying, classifying and safely packing hazardous waste for collection and disposal, with field-based responsibilities and ADR awareness.

The ideal candidate holds a Chemistry-related bachelor’s degree, a full UK driving licence, and prefers experience in waste management or environmental services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Experience with hazardous waste handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer sites to identify, sample, and classify hazardous waste streams.
• Safely package, label, and prepare waste for transport in ADR-compliant procedures.
• Ensure all waste movements are compliant with environmental regulations and traceable cradle-to-grave.
• Provide technical advice on waste classification and compliance.
• Complete consignment notes and inspection reports accurately.
• Liaise with logistics and site chemists to coordinate collections.

Mobile Chemist - Hazardous Waste

Location: Southampton, UK (Field work)

Salary: up to £35,000 (DOE)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 7:00am - 4:00pm

My client is looking for a Mobile Chemist to join their team, working for a leading UK Hazardous Waste Management company. The role will involve travelling to customer sites across Hampshire and surrounding counties to identify, classify, and safely pack hazardous waste for collection and disposal.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field, and preferably some experience in the waste management or environmental services industry. This role would suit someone with a strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and excellent communication skills who enjoys working independently and on the move.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend customer sites to identify, sample, and classify hazardous waste streams
• Safely package, label, and prepare waste for transport in accordance with ADR and company procedures
• Ensure all waste movements are fully compliant with environmental regulations and traceable from cradle to grave
• Provide technical advice and guidance to customers regarding waste classification and compliance
• Complete all required documentation accurately, including consignment notes and inspection reports
• Liaise with internal logistics and site chemists to ensure smooth collection and transfer of waste materials

Requirements:

• Full UK Driving Licence is essential
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field
• Previous experience as a Site Chemist, Mobile Chemist, Lab Analyst, or similar is desirable
• ADR awareness is desirable.
• Experience in the Waste Management industry is desirable, but not essential.
