Job summary

Tradebe Environmental Services is seeking a Mobile Technical Services Chemist to organise and coordinate hazardous waste collections across the region. The role requires a proactive, flexible team player who can work under pressure, with a can-do attitude.

The ideal candidate will have minimum HNC in Chemistry, be technically competent in hazardous waste handling, and hold an EU driving licence. Competitive salary up to £30,000 plus bonus and pension benefits.

Qualifications

  • Educated to minimum HNC level in Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Technically competent in handling hazardous waste.
  • Experience of packing hazardous waste for transportation and disposal.
  • Computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Organising collections from client sites and delivering to waste transfer site for disposal.
  • Maintain provision of packing materials on site.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and current UK legislation.
  • Assess, segregate, label and pack waste on client sites with proper documentation.
  • Compile lists of hazardous waste for collection and disposal with required documentation.
  • Load waste onto transport vehicles and drive to hazardous waste site for disposal.
  • Conduct risk assessments at client sites.
  • Provide advice to waste producers to maintain proper waste stores.

The Mobile Technical Services Chemist will be responsible for the organisation and coordination of hazardous waste collections from customer facilities, as required, across the region.

The ideal candidate will be committed, flexible and a team player with a professional approach. They will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to work under pressure and use their own initiative.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Organising collections from client’s sites and delivering to waste transfer site for disposal.
  • Maintain provision of packing materials on site.
  • Ensure all relevant legislation required is adhered to and compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures ensuring all requirements required are met on client sites and at waste receipt/disposal sites.
  • Technically assess, segregate, label and pack waste on client’s site with documentation compliant to current UK legislation.
  • Compile and maintain list of hazardous waste needing collection and disposal producing required documentation and ensure compliance with current legislation.
  • Collection and loading waste onto transport vehicle with the aid of material handling equipment making it safe and suitable for transportation, safely driving company vehicle to the hazardous waste site for disposal when on the premises make for safe and efficient off-loading.
  • Risk Assessments at client sites.
  • Provide advice and support to the waste producers so that the responsibility of a well maintained waste store is shared.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Educated to minimum HNC level in Chemistry or other related discipline.
  • Technically competent in the handling of hazardous waste.
  • Experience of packing hazardous waste for transportation and disposal.
  • Computer literate.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with potential and existing customers, identifying sales opportunities and leads.
  • Hard worker self-motivated, enthusiastic, capable of working autonomously with limited supervision and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Holder of a EU driving licence for at least two years.
