Job summary

Tradebe Environmental Services seeks a Mobile Technical Services Chemist to organise hazardous waste collections at client sites, mainly the University of Cambridge, and coordinate disposal in line with UK laws. The role requires an HNC in Chemistry or related discipline, experience handling hazardous waste, computer literacy, and an EU driving licence for two years.

Salary up to £32,000 plus bonus and pension.

Qualifications

• Educated to minimum HNC level in Chemistry or related discipline.
• Technically competent in the handling of hazardous waste.
• Experience of packing hazardous waste for transportation and disposal.
• Computer literate.
• Maintaining and developing relationships with potential and existing customers, identifying sales opportunities and leads.
• Hard worker, self-motivated, enthusiastic, capable of working autonomously with limited supervision.
• Holder of a EU driving licence for at least two years.

Responsibilities

• Organising collections from client’s sites and delivering to waste transfer site for disposal.
• Maintain provision of packing materials on site.
• Ensure all relevant legislation required is adhered to and compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Technically assess, segregate, label and pack waste on client’s site with documentation compliant to current UK legislation.
• Compile and maintain list of hazardous waste needing collection and disposal producing required documentation and ensure compliance with current legislation.
• Collection and loading waste onto transport vehicle with the aid of material handling equipment, making it safe for transportation.
• Assist with safe driving to the hazardous waste site for disposal.
• Risk Assessments at client sites.
• Provide advice and support to the waste producers so that the responsibility of a well maintained waste store is shared.

The Mobile Technical Services Chemist will be responsible for the organisation and coordination of hazardous waste collections from primarily the University of Cambridge but also other customer facilities as required.

The ideal candidate will be committed, flexible and a team player with a professional approach. They will have a positive 'can do' attitude with the ability to work under pressure and use their own initiative.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Organising collections from client’s sites and delivering to waste transfer site for disposal.
• Maintain provision of packing materials on site.
• Ensure all relevant legislation required is adhered to and compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures ensuring all requirements required are met on client sites and at waste receipt/disposal sites.
• Technically assess, segregate, label and pack waste on client’s site with documentation compliant to current UK legislation.
• Compile and maintain list of hazardous waste needing collection and disposal producing required documentation and ensure compliance with current legislation.
• Collection and loading waste onto transport vehicle with the aid of material handling equipment making it safe and suitable for transportation, safely driving company vehicle to the hazardous waste site for disposal when on the premises make for safe and efficient off-loading.
• Risk Assessments at client sites.
• Provide advice and support to the waste producers so that the responsibility of a well maintained waste store is shared.
