Job summary

ABM UK in Glasgow and surrounding areas is seeking a Security Officer to protect visitors, staff and assets across multiple sites. You will patrol premises, monitor CCTV and respond to incidents while delivering excellent customer service in a professional manner.

The role requires a valid SIA license and CCTV qualification, the ability to work nights and weekends, and a proactive, calm approach under pressure. Training and ongoing development are provided.

Qualifications

• SIA licence is essential.
• CCTV licence is essential.
• Strong health and safety awareness required.
• Experience in security roles, preferably in retail or shopping centres, desired.

Responsibilities

• Patrol sites across Glasgow and surrounding areas to deter crime and ensure safety.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms, and security equipment to detect and respond to incidents.
• Respond quickly to emergencies including first aid, fire alarms, theft, and escalate as needed.
• Control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel enter.
• Provide helpful customer service to visitors and staff, and assist with lost property and locating missing persons.
• Submit accurate daily activity and incident reports to the Security Supervisor/Manager.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and centre management for coordinated responses.
• Adhere to company policies and health and safety regulations; participate in ongoing training.

SHIFT PATTERN: 40 hours per week, as required including Nights & weekends

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

ThecoverSecurity Officer willbe responsible forensuring the safety and security of all visitors, staff, and assets within avarious siteswithin Glasgow andsurrounding areas.This role involves patrolling the premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, responding to incidents, and providing excellent customer service tomaintaina safe environment.You will be the face of our Company and need to present yourself with professionalism andpoliteness, be proactive and conscientious

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrolling: Conduct regular foot patrols of thesites, including car parks, to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe environment.
• Surveillance Monitoring: Operateand monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment to detect and respond to suspicious activities.
• Incident Response: Quickly and effectively respond to emergencies, including first aid situations, fire alarms, theft, and other security incidents. Escalate issues to the relevant authorities as needed.
• Access Control: Monitor and control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed entry.
• Customer Service: Provide assistanceand information to visitors and staff, maintaininga visible and approachable presence. Handle lost property andassistinlocatingmissing persons when necessary.
• Reporting: Maintainaccurateand detailed records of incidents, observations, and patrols. Submit daily activity reports to the Security Supervisor/Manager.
• Collaboration: Work closely with law enforcement, emergency services, and shopping centre management to ensure coordinated responses to security issues.
• Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements related to security operations.
• Training: Participatein regular training sessions on security procedures, first aid, fire safety, and other relevant topics

Essential:

• Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence.
• ValidCCTVlicence

• Ability to motivate yourself,bepro active,adhere and abide by Company policies
• Previousexperience in a security role, preferably within a retail or shopping centre environment.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.

Desirable:

• Conflict resolution training.
• Familiarity with the local area and its security challenges.
