Job summary

ABM is seeking a Security Officer to ensure the safety of visitors, staff and assets across Glasgow and surrounding sites. You will patrol, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and deliver high-quality customer service to maintain a safe environment.

Essential: valid SIA licence, CCTV licence, strong health and safety awareness, and previous security experience. The role includes night and weekend shifts with a 40-hour week and offers ABM's range of benefits.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling sites, including car parks, to deter crime and keep a safe environment.
• Operate CCTV systems, alarms and security equipment to detect issues.
• Respond quickly to emergencies, including first aid and fire alarms.
• Control access to restricted areas and verify authorized entry.
• Provide assistance and information to visitors and staff.
• Maintain detailed incident and patrol records; submit reports daily.
• Collaborate with police, emergency services and centre management.
• Adhere to company policies and health and safety regulations.

SHIFT PATTERN: 40 hours per week, as required including Nights & weekends

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

ThecoverSecurity Officer willbe responsible forensuring the safety and security of all visitors, staff, and assets within avarious siteswithin Glasgow andsurrounding areas.This role involves patrolling the premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, responding to incidents, and providing excellent customer service tomaintaina safe environment.You will be the face of our Company and need to present yourself with professionalism andpoliteness, be proactive and conscientious

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrolling: Conduct regular foot patrols of thesites, including car parks, to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe environment.
• Surveillance Monitoring:Operateand monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment to detect and respond to suspicious activities.
• Incident Response: Quickly and effectively respond to emergencies, including first aid situations, fire alarms, theft, and other security incidents. Escalate issues to the relevant authorities as needed.
• Access Control: Monitor and control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed entry.
• Customer Service:Provide assistanceand information to visitors and staff,maintaininga visible and approachable presence. Handle lost property andassistinlocatingmissing persons when necessary.
• Reporting:Maintainaccurateand detailed records of incidents, observations, and patrols. Submit daily activity reports to the Security Supervisor/Manager.
• Collaboration: Work closely with law enforcement, emergency services, and shopping centre management to ensure coordinated responses to security issues.
• Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements related to security operations.
• Training:Participatein regular training sessions on security procedures, first aid, fire safety, and other relevant topics

Essential:

• Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence.

• Ability to motivate yourself,bepro active,adhere and abide by Company policies
• Previousexperience in a security role, preferably within a retail or shopping centre environment.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.

Desirable:

• Conflict resolution training.
• Familiarity with the local area and its security challenges.
