Job summary

ABM is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard visitors, staff and assets across Glasgow sites. You will patrol, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and provide excellent customer service to maintain a safe environment.

Essential qualifications include a valid SIA licence, CCTV licence, and strong health and safety awareness, with prior security experience preferred in retail or shopping centres. You will stay calm under pressure and collaborate with authorities.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling sites including car parks to deter crime and ensure safety.
• Operate and monitor CCTV, alarms and security equipment.
• Respond quickly to emergencies, including first aid and alarms.
• Monitor access to restricted areas and authorize entry as needed.
• Provide assistance and information to visitors and staff.
• Submit detailed incident reports to supervisors daily.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and site management as required.
• Adhere to company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements.
• Take part in regular security training sessions.

SHIFT PATTERN: 40 hours per week, as required including Nights & weekends

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

ThecoverSecurity Officer willbe responsible forensuring the safety and security of all visitors, staff, and assets within avarious siteswithin Glasgow andsurrounding areas.This role involves patrolling the premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, responding to incidents, and providing excellent customer service tomaintaina safe environment.You will be the face of our Company and need to present yourself with professionalism andpoliteness, be proactive and conscientious

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrolling: Conduct regular foot patrols of thesites, including car parks, to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe environment.
• Surveillance Monitoring:Operateand monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment to detect and respond to suspicious activities.
• Incident Response: Quickly and effectively respond to emergencies, including first aid situations, fire alarms, theft, and other security incidents. Escalate issues to the relevant authorities as needed.
• Access Control: Monitor and control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed entry.
• Customer Service:Provide assistanceand information to visitors and staff,maintaininga visible and approachable presence. Handle lost property andassistinlocatingmissing persons when necessary.
• Reporting:Maintainaccurateand detailed records of incidents, observations, and patrols. Submit daily activity reports to the Security Supervisor/Manager.
• Collaboration: Work closely with law enforcement, emergency services, and shopping centre management to ensure coordinated responses to security issues.
• Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements related to security operations.
• Training:Participatein regular training sessions on security procedures, first aid, fire safety, and other relevant topics

Essential:

• Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence.
• ValidCCTVlicence
• VerystrongHealth and Safetyawareness
• Ability to motivate yourself,bepro active,adhere and abide by Company policies
• Previousexperience in a security role, preferably within a retail or shopping centre environment.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.

Desirable:

• Conflict resolution training.
• Familiarity with the local area and its security challenges.
