Job summary

Nelson Permanent Placements are recruiting for a Building Services electrical engineer to work mobile on live purpose built student accommodation around Birmingham and the surrounding area.

The role delivers planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, statutory compliance and small works across occupied sites, maintaining safe, compliant and fully certificated installations while liaising with client site teams and residents to minimise disruption.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services (or equivalent time-served apprenticeship).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations to current amendment and related testing qualifications.
• ECS Gold Card (Installation or Maintenance Electrician) or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence (van provided).
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo a DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical PPM to SFG20 schedules across multiple site locations.
• Diagnose and repair reactive electrical faults within contracted response times.
• Provide electrical support to other disciplines and assist with low-voltage systems.
• Record all work in real time on CAFM/mobile job management system.
• Work safely with RAMS, permits to work, lock-out/tag-out, and dynamic risk assessments.
• Liaise with client site teams and residents to minimise disruption.
