Job summary

BBC's Data Platforms team in Salford Dock House (primary) with London and Glasgow locations is hiring a Software Engineer to build tools and platforms powering scalable ML workflows for data scientists and engineers across the organisation.

You will apply strong software engineering practices, work with cloud technologies (AWS), and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, secure systems while growing technically in cloud, data, and ML domains.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software with Python or a similar language.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including testing, version control, and CI/CD.
• Experience building or supporting cloud-based services, preferably AWS.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK/CloudFormation) and automated delivery.
• Experience with data, software, or ML pipelines including monitoring and security.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain tools and services to support ML workflows.
• Apply engineering practices like TDD, CI/CD, and clean code design.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and cross-team discussions.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers across the BBC.
• Support reliability, security, monitoring and operations of systems.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
