Job summary

The BBC is seeking a Software Engineer in the Machine Learning Enablement Team to design and deliver tools, platforms, and capabilities that empower data scientists and engineers across the organisation. You will build scalable ML workflows, contribute to reliable software, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape innovative technical solutions.

You will gain exposure to cloud, data, and ML technologies while growing your skills and career in a world‑class media organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software with Python or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience developing or supporting cloud-based services, preferably AWS.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation (CDK, CloudFormation).
• Experience with data, software, or ML pipelines, with monitoring, reliability, and security awareness.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain tools, services, and infrastructure to support ML workflows.
• Apply engineering practices including TDD, CI/CD, and clean design.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical discussions.
• Contribute to data and ML pipelines and integrations.
• Engage with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to testing, reliability and security.
• Participate in pair programming and knowledge sharing.
