Job summary

Agricultural Recruitment Specialists Ltd is seeking a practical Mixed Farm Worker for a Shropshire enterprise combining stone fruit production and regenerative sheep farming. This hands-on role supports establishing a cherry orchard alongside a growing meat sheep flock.

Key duties include operating tractors, planting and pruning, irrigation and crop monitoring, and sheep husbandry. Salary is £28,000–£34,000 DOE with accommodation support and training for long-term career development.

Qualifications

• Practical, hardworking and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.
• Experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.
• Background in horticulture, orchards, livestock or mixed farming preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors and machinery safely and efficiently.
• Support orchard establishment (planting, pruning, thinning, harvesting).
• Assist with irrigation, fertigation, crop monitoring and plant health programmes.
• Work with modern orchard systems including polytunnels and rain covers.
• Carry out routine machinery maintenance and basic repairs.
• Support integrated pest management and crop quality monitoring.
• Assist with the establishment and management of a regenerative sheep flock.
