Job summary

The Bishop Wand Church of England School is seeking a reliable Casual Minibus Driver on a zero hours contract to support safe student transport. The role involves driving the school minibus, ensuring safety and comfort, and performing vehicle checks.

You will work on an as-required basis and represent the School in the local community. Applicants must hold a valid D1/PSV licence (or D1 pre-1997 entitlement), be approachable, and demonstrate strong communication, reliability and safeguarding

The Bishop Wand Church of England School is seeking a reliable, responsible and friendly Casual Minibus Driver to support the safe transportation of our students.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, takes pride in providing excellent customer service, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

The Role

As a Casual Minibus Driver (zero hours contract), you will be responsible for driving the school minibus safely and efficiently, ensuring the welfare and comfort of students at all times. You will represent the School within the local community and help maintain our excellent reputation. This role is on a 'as required' basis and is therefore on a zero hours contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely drive the school minibus in accordance with all road traffic regulations.


• Ensure the safety, comfort and wellbeing of all passengers.


• Carry out daily and weekly vehicle safety checks.


• Report vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents promptly.


• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and roadworthiness of school vehicles.


• Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage and checks.


• Plan alternative routes when necessary and communicate any transport changes appropriately.


• Support staff with student behaviour management where required.


• Adhere to school policies, health and safety procedures, and safeguarding requirements.


• Undertake mandatory training, including safeguarding training, and any additional training required by the School.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Requirements

• A current, clean and valid driving licence:


• D1 unrestricted, or


• PSV licence, or


• D1 restricted entitlement (car licence obtained before 1 January 1997 will be considered).


• A pleasant, approachable and professional manner.


• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, staff and parents.
