Job summary

The Bishop Wand Church of England School is seeking a reliable Casual Minibus Driver on a zero hours contract to support safe student transport. The role involves driving the school minibus, ensuring safety and comfort, and performing vehicle checks.

You will work on an as-required basis and represent the School in the local community. Applicants must hold a valid D1/PSV licence (or D1 pre-1997 entitlement), be approachable, and demonstrate strong communication, reliability and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Current, valid driving licence (D1 unrestricted, PSV or D1 before 1997)
• Pleasant, approachable and professional demeanor
• Excellent communication with students, staff and parents
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Carrying out routine vehicle checks and basic maintenance inspections

Responsibilities

• Safely drive the school minibus in line with road regulations
• Ensure passenger safety, comfort and wellbeing
• Carry out daily and weekly vehicle safety checks
• Report defects, faults, incidents and accidents promptly
• Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of school vehicles
• Keep accurate usage and check records
• Plan alternative routes and communicate transport changes
• Support staff with student behaviour when required
• Adhere to school policies, health and safeguarding procedures
• Undertake mandatory safeguarding training
