Job summary

Blue Arrow is seeking a Minibus driver to join on a permanent basis, delivering safe transport for adults with complex needs in Birmingham. Role includes early morning and late afternoon shifts, assisting passengers, and maintaining vehicle safety standards.

A DBS check is required, and experience with disabilities is desirable. You will operate during 7am–9:30am and 3pm–5:30pm, for 15 or 20 hours weekly, with a focus on reliability and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• D1 licence.
• Experience of driving passengers.
• Calm and respectful, reliable, punctual and flexible with good communication and patience.
• Enhanced DBS disclosure.
• Desirable - experience with disabilities including visual impairment.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport individuals to and from home, appointments, and activities according to schedules.
• Adhere to traffic laws and organisational policies.
• Adapt driving approach to meet needs of individuals with disabilities including visual impairment.
• Assist with boarding/exiting vehicles and use of mobility aids; ensure seat belts and restraints are used.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintenance; report issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle use and checks.

Job description

Blue Arrow are currently recruiting for a Minibus driver to join our client on a permanent basis.

Your role will be to provide safe and reliable transport for adults with complex needs, delivering scheduled transport routes to and from the centre in Harborne. This role also includes maintaining high vehicle safety standards, and undertaking required training to ensure transport is delivered safely, professionally and in line with organisation values.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport individuals to and from home, appointments, and activities in line with schedules


• Adhere with all traffic laws, regulations and orgnaisational properties


• Adapt driving approach to meet the needs of individuals with visual impairments and complex needs


• Assist individuals when boarding and exiting vehicles, including use of mobility aids where required. Ensure seat belts, wheelchair restraints and other safety equipment are used correctly


• Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintenance, reporting any issues promptly


• Maintain accurate records of vehicle use, mileage and checks

Requirements

• Ability to conduct yourself in a calm and respectful manner, reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work. Good communication and patience demeanour


• Enhanced DBS disclosure.

Pay Rate

• £12.88 per hour
