You will perform basic vehicle safety checks, keep journeys logs, maintain a clean vehicle, and communicate clearly with staff, parents and carers to ensure safe, smooth journeys for children aged 2 to 11.

Qualifications

Role Description

The Minibus Driver role at Barfield Prep School is a part-time, on-site position based in Surrey. The driver will safely transport pupils to and from school, local trips, and school activities, following designated routes and schedules. Daily responsibilities include conducting basic vehicle safety checks, keeping the minibus clean and organised, and ensuring pupils board, travel, and disembark safely. The role also involves keeping accurate journey records, reporting maintenance needs, and communicating clearly with school staff, parents, and carers. The driver is expected to uphold the school’s safeguarding standards and promote a calm, respectful environment during all journeys.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license appropriate for minibus operation and a clean driving record; experience driving passenger vehicles or school transport.
• Strong awareness of road safety, local traffic regulations, and safe driving practices in varying weather and traffic conditions.
• Effective communication skills and a calm, professional manner when interacting with children, families, and colleagues.
• Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to follow schedules, adhere to procedures, and work independently.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare; willingness to undergo background checks and training as required.
• Basic record-keeping skills for logs, incident reports, and mileage; attention to detail in reporting maintenance issues.
• Physical ability to assist pupils with boarding and disembarking safely and to perform routine vehicle checks.
• Previous experience in a school, childcare, or passenger transport environment is an advantage.
