Location: Huddersfield

Salary: £14 - £15ph

Hours: Monday - Thursday 7am - 4.45pm

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced MIG Welder to join a well-established manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reliable individual to become part of a busy production team within a growing company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality MIG welding and fabrication work on a variety of steel components. You will be expected to work from engineering drawings, ensuring all products are manufactured accurately and meet the required quality standards. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency while adhering to strict health and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a MIG Welder, you will be responsible for welding mild steel and other materials in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications. The role involves preparing materials for welding by cutting, grinding and cleaning components before assembly, producing accurate and consistent welds, and inspecting finished work to ensure it meets quality standards. You will safely operate welding equipment, fabrication machinery and hand tools while carrying out routine equipment checks and maintaining a clean, organised working environment. You will also be expected to meet production deadlines, follow all health and safety procedures, and assist with other manufacturing duties as required.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a MIG Welder within a manufacturing or fabrication environment and will be confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings. You should possess a strong understanding of welding techniques and fabrication processes, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential, along with good communication skills, reliability and a positive attitude.

Experience welding stainless steel or aluminium would be advantageous, as would previous fabrication experience and recognised welding qualifications such as NVQ or City & Guilds certifications. Experience operating overhead cranes or holding a valid forklift truck licence would also be beneficial, although training may be provided where necessary.

Personal Attributes

The successful applicant will be dependable, punctual and committed to delivering work to a consistently high standard. You will have a strong work ethic, a positive and proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting production deadlines. Flexibility and a willingness to support the wider production team when required are also important qualities for this role.

Benefits

The company offers a competitive salary, regular overtime opportunities, company pension scheme, on-site parking and full PPE. Ongoing training and development will be provided, along with the opportunity to secure permanent employment within a supportive and friendly working environment.
