Job summary

Optima UK Inc Ltd is seeking a dependable MIG Welder to join our Leicester-area production team on a permanent basis. The role involves welding to specifications, inspecting finished welds, and working from engineering drawings in a busy manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates will have MIG welding experience, preferably with mild steel or sheet metal, and be comfortable on 12-hour night shifts. The position offers stability within an established manufacturing operation and opportunities for

Qualifications

• Previous MIG welding experience is essential.
• Experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Experience welding mild steel and/or sheet metal.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings and welding specifications.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Practical, reliable and level-headed approach to work.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to follow established processes.
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts.
• Experience with robotic welding or CNC machinery would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• MIG welding components and assemblies to required specifications.
• Welding mild steel and sheet metal components.
• Working from engineering drawings and weld specifications.
• Setting and operating MIG welding equipment.
• Carrying out visual inspections and quality checks on completed welds.
• Identifying and rectifying basic welding defects where required.
• Using hand tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintaining a clean and organised working area.
• Following company health and safety procedures and production standards.
• Working as part of a team to achieve production and quality targets.
