Job summary

GI Group Main Account is seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join a busy manufacturing workshop creating frames and enclosures. You will weld aluminium and steel, using jigs/fixtures to ensure repeatable, high-quality builds.

Role focuses on reading drawings, maintaining weld quality, and meeting daily production targets within a hands-on factory setting.

Qualifications

• Proven MIG welding experience on aluminium and steel.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Experience in a production environment using jigs/fixtures.

Responsibilities

• MIG weld aluminium and steel components for frames/enclosures.
• Set up parts using jigs/fixtures for repeatable builds.
• Work from engineering drawings and weld symbols.
• Prepare and fit materials (cleaning, dressing, tacking, alignment).
• Carry out visual weld checks and rework as needed.
• Maintain weld quality and productivity per workshop targets.
• Follow health and safety procedures and keep area tidy.

Role Overview

We're recruiting a MIG Welder to join a busy manufacturing workshop producing frames and enclosures. This is a hands-on role welding aluminium and steel using jigs/fixtures to ensure consistent, repeatable builds and quality output.

Key Responsibilities

• MIG weld aluminium and steel components for frames and enclosures
• Use jigs/fixtures to set up parts accurately and maintain repeatability
• Work from engineering drawings and weld symbols
• Prepare and fit materials prior to welding (cleaning, dressing, tacking, alignment)
• Complete visual checks on welds, carry out rework where required
• Maintain weld quality and productivity in line with workshop targets
• Follow health & safety procedures and keep your work area clean and organised
• Flag any jig/fixture issues, fit-up problems, or quality concerns to support continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven MIG welding experience on aluminium and steel
• Experience welding in a production environment using jigs/fixtures
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good attention to detail and a quality-first approach
