The Midwifery Sister at BSW Hospitals Group will coordinate the Maternity Triage Service, providing clinical, operational and professional leadership to ensure timely assessment and safe care for women and birthing people.

You will lead day-to-day triage management, oversee patient flow, staffing, capacity and escalation of care, and act as the BSOTS clinical lead to support NHS England Maternity Triage specifications.

Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Evidence of training and competence in maternity triage assessment and escalation.
  • Evidence of leadership development.
  • Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor qualification (or willingness to undertake).
  • Leadership or Management Qualification
  • Quality Improvement qualification or experience.
  • Training in BSOTS.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day management of maternity triage and patient flow.
  • Provide clinical, operational and professional leadership within the Maternity Triage Service.

Job description

We are excited to be seeking a Midwifery Sister to coordinate our Maternity Triage service providing clinical, operational and professional leadership. You will will coordinate the day to day management of maternity triage maintaining oversight of clinical activity and escalation of care. As the lead for BSOTS you will support is development and promote a safety critical clinical environment., You will be responsible for providing clinical, operational and professional leadership within the Maternity Triage Service, ensuring the delivery of safe, responsive, equitable and evidence-based care for women and birthing people accessing urgent and unscheduled maternity care. You will coordinate the day-to-day management of maternity triage, maintaining oversight of clinical activity, patient flow, staffing, capacity and risk to ensure timely assessment, prioritisation and escalation of care. Acting as the clinical lead for the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS), you will support the implementation of the NHS England Maternity Triage Specification and promote maternity triage as a safety-critical clinical environment. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will contribute to governance, audit, quality improvement, workforce development and service transformation activities, embedding learning from national maternity recommendations and supporting the delivery of safe, personalised and compassionate care.

  • oSignificant relevant clinical and management experience at band 6 or above in a range of care settings of at least 3 years port registration.
  • oExperience in service user feedback including analysing data.
  • oExperience of managing patient flow, acuity and clinical prioritisation.

Desirable

  • oExperience in complaint investigation and response
  • oExperience leading change management projects., oSignificant relevant clinical and management experience at band 6 or above in a range of care settings of at least 3 years port registration.
  • oExperience in service user feedback including analysing data.
  • oExperience of managing patient flow, acuity and clinical prioritisation.

  • oExperience in complaint investigation and response
