Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a registered midwife with extensive neonatal experience to deliver highly specialised care across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. You will support junior staff and contribute to the education and development of the team.

Essential requirements include a Diploma/Degree in midwifery, CPD evidence, and post-registration neonatal experience; applicants should be prepared to work towards advanced neonatal resuscitation

Qualifications

  • Advanced neonatal clinical skills across antepartum, intrapartum and postnatal care.
  • Evidence of CPD and up-to-date CPD portfolio.
  • Post-registration experience in neonatal or obstetric settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialised advice to junior midwives and obstetric colleagues.
  • Coordinate delivery suite and manage high/low risk cases as required.
  • Ensure compliance with midwifery legislation and educational programmes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria

  • Registered midwife (Diploma/Degree)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Well documented and up to date CPD portfolio
  • Evidence of Professional Updating
  • Post registration experience
  • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation or be willing to work towards/relevant clinical experience
  • Recent evidence of neonatal life support
  • Teaching/mentorship qualifications

Desirable criteria

  • Leadership course
  • NLS Course
  • Enhanced maternal care qualifications or relevant training

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge and experience of immediate resuscitation of mother/baby
  • Provide highly specialised advice to both junior midwives and obstetric colleagues
  • Has awareness of PREP, midwifery legislation and midwifery educational training programmes
  • Management Training

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of co-ordinating delivery suite

APTITUDE AND SKILLS

Essential criteria

  • Full range of highly developed high and low risk antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal clinical skills
  • Ability to perform; venepuncture, IV therapies, cannulation, perineal suturing
