Job summary

St Marys CE Primary School in Bitteswell is seeking a friendly Midday Supervisor to join our lunchtime team. This part-time role runs 12:00–1:30pm, 7.5 hours per week during term time only, with a fixed contract to end of July 2027. The role carries Grade 4.5 pay at £13.28 per hour.

The successful candidate will supervise pupils during lunch, encourage safe play, and assist with basic first aid and safeguarding procedures, while contributing to a calm, caring school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising children during lunch or play.
• Ability to follow safeguarding policies and promote safe behavior.
• Willingness to participate in first aid and basic care as needed.

Responsibilities

• Help children cut up food, if needed.
• Encourage good behaviour and table manners.
• Supervise children in the playground (or indoors in wet weather).
• Deal with minor injuries like cuts, grazes and bruises.
• Ensure eating areas are clean and tidy at end of lunchtime.
• Undertake First Aid training as required.

St Marys CE Primary School, is a village school and part of Inspiring Primaries Academy Trust. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, reliable Midday Supervisor to join our professional, friendly and hard working team. This is a part-time role 7.5 hours pw /term time only/ fixed contract to end of term July 2027.

We are located in Bitteswell's thriving community, our small, friendly village school has strong links to the Church residents, families and local schools. The school still stands on and around the original school house built in 1888. Changes to the building over the years now provide teaching areas to meet modern demands, encompassing four classrooms, a large group room, a nurture room, a library, modern computing facilities, kitchen, music room, hall and outdoor classroom. The school is set within peaceful and attractive school grounds with a wildlife garden, trim trail, raised beds, outdoor percussion instruments, large scale wall maps and patio area with seating. The open space and resources allow the children to explore and develop their imagination and creativity

Our last Ofsted, in 2025, identified the school as Good in all areas, commenting

“The school is welcoming and caring, and pupils enjoy learning here. The school has high expectations of what pupils can achieve. Most pupils progress through the curriculum and achieve well. The school is calm and orderly. There are positive relationships between staff and pupils.”

MIDDAY SUPERVISOR

Working times 12:00 - 1:30pm - 1hr 30 minutes daily

Term-Time only ( 38 weeks per year) 7.5 hours per week.

Grade 4 . 5 / £13.28 per hour

Our Lunchtime Support staff;

• Understand that collaborative play is an important part of growing and maturing. Be willing to have fun and play playground games with children.
• Promote active free time, guiding children to activities and games that are fun and engaging
• Watch closely as hot meals and packed lunches are eaten in the hall, ensuring that children have healthy and balanced meals to power learning for the rest of the day.
• Supervise/ engage pupils after lunch, either inside or outside of the school buidlidng , being vigilant as to the health, safety and sucruity of the pupils within their care, and in accrodance with the School Behaviour Policy.
• Are able to supervise children, be patient, have a fair-minded approach and to stay calm in an emergency, as well as having excellent communication skills with pupils and staff. Be alert and have awareness of safety.
• Be part of a team
• Undertake First Aid training.

Your day-to-day duties could include:

Helping children cut up their food, if needed
