Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is recruiting a Midday Supervisor in Derby to supervise pupils in the dining hall and on the playground during lunch breaks. The role supports safe, calm, and enjoyable lunchtimes across Derby schools.

The ideal candidate has prior experience with children and a calm, confident manner, with reliability and punctuality. A DBS check and right to work in the UK are required or in progress.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, club, or similar setting.
• A calm, friendly and confident manner with the ability to manage groups of pupils.
• Reliable and punctual.
• A basic understanding of safeguarding in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervising pupils in the dining hall and on the playground or school grounds during lunch breaks.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and following the school's behaviour policy.
• Helping younger pupils with lunch, including opening packaging and clearing away.
• Watching for allergies and dietary needs and following school procedures.
• Reporting accidents, incidents and concerns to the senior staff on duty.
• Following safeguarding, health and safety and first aid procedures.

Pay: £14.25-£16.78 per hour, paid weekly

Term time only: School holidays off

What you'll be doing

• Supervising pupils in the dining hall and on the playground or school grounds during the lunch break
• Encouraging positive behaviour and following the school's behaviour policy
• Helping younger pupils with their lunch, including opening packaging and clearing away
• Keeping an eye out for allergies and dietary needs, following the school's procedures
• Reporting accidents, incidents and any concerns to the senior member of staff on duty
• Following the school's safeguarding, health and safety and first aid proceduresWhat you'll need

What you'll need

• Previous experience working with children (in a school, nursery, club or similar setting)
• A calm, friendly and confident manner, with the ability to manage groups of pupils
• Reliable and punctual
• A basic understanding of safeguarding in a school setting
• A current first aid certificate is desirable
• An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
• Right to work in the UK
