Job summary

Brent Knoll Primary School is seeking a caring Midday Supervising Assistant to supervise pupils during lunch and playtimes. The role involves promoting safety, supporting tidy-up duties and contributing to a positive lunchtime environment.

The successful candidate will work within a supportive team and undertake safeguarding training as required. The post is permanent and term-time only plus training, 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at Grade 15 Point 3.

Qualifications

  • Provide a caring, welcoming environment for children during lunch and play.
  • Be an excellent communicator with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a calm, supportive approach.
  • Attend safeguarding and other required training as part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children in the dining room during lunch and outdoors at playtimes.
  • Promote positive behaviour and ensure safety and wellbeing at midday breaks.
  • Support housekeeping duties such as tidying up tables and equipment after meals.
  • Help implement the school’s aims and ethos during the midday period.

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Midday Supervisor to help create a safe, happy and enjoyable lunchtime for our pupils. Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you will supervise children in the dining room during lunch and outside at playtimes, promote positive behaviour, and help ensure their safety and wellbeing throughout the midday break. This is a rewarding opportunity for
someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive difference every day.

Candidates will need to demonstrate the following:
  • Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for the children
  • Support the children during their lunch, and in their play
  • Encourage children to take responsibility for housekeeping and assist with the tidying of the venue after use including lifting/putting away tables
  • Support the aims and ethos of the school
  • Be an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and
    security, confidentiality, and reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • The successful candidate will need to undertake safeguarding and other necessary training
