Isms is seeking an experienced software developer to join a small, capable engineering team. You will work closely with our CTO, Tech Lead and Product Team to deliver roadmap work, owning features from design through to production.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Solid Ruby and Ruby on Rails experience with sound object-oriented design skills.
• Strong backend engineering skills with working knowledge of frontend concepts.
• Experience working in an established codebase, handling tech debt and refactoring as part of everyday work.
• Good SQL skills and confidence writing and understanding queries.
• The ability to deliver features independently once the direction is clear.
• Confident use of AI for coding, refactoring, testing and documentation.
• Good judgement about where AI helps and where it doesn’t.
• Clear, honest communication: you tell us how you work best and adapt to how others like to work.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain product features in Ruby on Rails, owning them end to end.
• Work confidently across legacy and modern parts of the application.
• Refactor and pay down tech debt as part of everyday delivery.
• Improve performance and maintainability in the areas you work on.
• Take part in code review, pairing and technical planning.
• Contribute to design discussions and help shape how parts of the platform evolve.
• Use AI tools heavily in your day-to-day work and share what works with the team.
• Contribute ideas, not just delivery.
