Job summary

Run-Time Group Ltd in Reading seeks a Senior Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to own architecture for scalable, high-velocity delivery. You will collaborate with Product, Design, Commercial, pricing, and lifecycle teams to evolve high-traffic platforms and introduce AI-driven enhancements.

The role focuses on modern engineering practices, operation continuity, and delivering meaningful product impact in a fast-moving, product-centric environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Ruby on Rails in a full-stack environment.
• Strong API design using REST and GraphQL; external integrations.
• Experience with relational stores (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and Redis/Elasticsearch.
• DevOps mindset with AWS/Heroku and CI/CD pipelines; IaC preferred.
• Testing with RSpec/Capybara; TDD mindset; security and performance focus.
• AI/LLM integration experience and product-facing improvement work.
• Ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams in fast-paced settings.

Job description

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• Full-stack engineering experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Hotwire, and Stimulus
• Node.js and React exposure beneficial
• API design experience with REST, GraphQL, and external integrations
• Experience with data stores including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch
• Experience with async processing tools such as Sidekiq and Resque
• Cloud and DevOps experience with AWS, Heroku, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
• Testing and quality experience with RSpec, Capybara, and TDD methodologies
• Experience with security, performance tuning, and system hardening
• Experience with AI and LLMs, including API integration, prompt engineering, and AI-enhanced features and developer tooling
• Deep expertise in architecting, developing, and scaling full-stack web platforms
• Experience guiding cross-disciplinary engineering teams
• Ability to embed modern engineering practices for reliable, high-velocity delivery
• Decisive, action-oriented approach with strong alignment to business strategy in fast-moving, product-centric environments
