Job summary

The Oxford Health Company is establishing a new microbiology laboratory in Bicester and inviting applications for a Microbiology Laboratory Technician. You will receive structured training from the Laboratory Manager and progressively take ownership of the laboratory, developing expertise across microbiological testing, quality systems, and potential leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• MSc in Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Biological Sciences or related field.
• 1+ years’ laboratory experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited microbiology lab with routine testing.
• Strong practical knowledge of microbiology lab equipment: incubators, autoclaves, pipettes, balances and biosafety cabinets.
• Good understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 with strong organisational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Desirable: Aerobic Plate Count, yeasts & moulds, E. coli and Salmonella testing; PCR techniques.
• Enthusiasm for health, wellness and science impact.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine microbiological testing of food supplements, raw materials and environmental samples.
• Prepare samples, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, and keep accurate records.
• Support ISO/IEC 17025 quality system, method verification and internal audits.
• Assist with PCR-based testing where appropriate.
• Support continuous improvement and quality procedures within the lab.
