Job summary

Magna International Inc. in Telford, GB is seeking a Metrology Engineer to maintain and improve Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and GOM systems, lead metrology activities, and support NPI/Launch metrology needs.

The role requires strong analytical skills and extensive knowledge of quality tools in a high-volume automotive setting. The engineer will follow PDCA, drive process capability, and coordinate with QA to deliver continuous improvements while upholding HSE policies across the plant.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Quality experience within a shopfloor manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of PPAP & APQP processes.
  • Experience in a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Quality Core Tools – APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and practical problem solving.
  • Proficient with Business Operating Systems in accordance with IATF 16949.
  • Computer literacy with GD&T understanding and CMM/GOM programming.

Responsibilities

  • Programming (Calypso/GOM).
  • Maintain CMM/GOM software and ensure latest updates are applied.
  • Coordinate measurement assessment.
  • Fixture Design (CMM/GOM).
  • Use escalation processes and procedures for dimensional issues.
  • Implement, facilitate and maintain SPC use and understanding throughout the business.
  • Statistical analysis using appropriate software (Minitab/SPC).
  • Development and maintenance of all Metrology equipment.
  • Coordinate program status generation & updates with the QA Engineering.
  • Design, coordinate & participate in MSA studies and lead dimensional reviews across functions.
  • Actively promote continuous improvement and lead problem solving activities.
  • Promote the company's HSE policies across the department and plant.
  • Any other duties/tasks defined by the Quality Manager.

Through our robust product engineering, outstanding tooling capabilities and diverse process expertise, we continue to bring lightweight and innovative products to market.**Job Responsibilities:**The Metrology Engineer is responsible for maintaining effective operation, development and continuous improvement of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Blue Light Technology systems (GOM) and their outputs.
