Job summary

Fortress Safety in Wolverhampton is seeking a Quality Technician to ensure components, assemblies and finished products meet strict standards. The role focuses on metrology, dimensional validation and measurement system control, with hands-on inspection work and reporting.

You'll read drawings, use calipers, micrometers, CMMs and gauges, support GR&R/MSA studies, and collaborate with Production, Engineering and Suppliers to resolve quality issues.

Qualifications

• Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Meticulous approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Good communication, leadership and critical thinking skills.
• Confidence reading engineering drawings or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-off, in-process and final dimensional inspections against drawings and customer requirements; write inspection reports.
• Check critical dimensions, tolerances, GD&T and assembly characteristics.
• Read engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications.
• Use and maintain inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height, bore and thread gauges, optical and surface finish equipment, and CMM.
• Keep all inspection equipment calibrated and quarantined if out of calibration.
• Support GR&R studies, measurement system analysis (MSA), capability studies and dimensional analysis.
• Work with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, suppliers and customers to investigate quality issues and root causes.
• Contribute to new product development, quality improvement and cost-saving projects.
• Cover other areas of the Quality team during absence and planned leave.
