Overview

Metalworking Production Operator - 1st Shift. Industrial Manufacturing Services (IMS), now part of Kloeckner Metals Corporation, is looking for a Metalworking Production Operator to work 1st Shift. This position includes operation of various metalworking machinery (e.g., press brakes, mills, lathes, saws, grinder, etc.) for fabricating high precision parts.

1st shift works from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and must be open to working overtime

Responsibilities
  • Operation of metalworking machinery for forming, bending, turning, milling and/or cutting steel.
  • General labor for loading and unloading machines and deburring/grinding for manual weld spatter removal
  • Perform routine operations including loading raw material and start-up/shut down of equipment
  • Monitor machine performance regarding accuracy of quantity and quality output, making adjustments as needed
  • Perform basic preventative and routine machine maintenance
  • Manual assembly of product with use of manual and powered tools
  • Proper stacking and protection of parts as required to maintain specified quality standard
  • Ensure accuracy of parts produced by visual inspection and/or by use of standard inspection instruments (i.e., micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  • Submit first and last piece production for Quality Control approval
  • Enter data on production reports regarding shop orders worked on, quantity produced, time worked, etc.
  • Follow and verify all instruction provided by work orders and customer blueprints
  • Notify supervision of problems with equipment and/or tooling that may cause defects/lost time
  • Comply with all safety practices and Company policies
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties

Qualifications
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints, is a plus
  • Prior metalworking, construction, or mechanical trade experience, is ideal
