Job summary

Sulzer in York is seeking a Metal Spray Operator to join the coatings team. You will prepare components, apply thermal spray coatings and operate robotic equipment to meet delivery and quality targets.

The role requires engineering or manufacturing experience, a keen eye for health and safety, and the ability to read drawings. A full UK driving licence is also preferred.

Qualifications

• Essential: engineering/manufacturing experience.
• Desirable: thermal spray experience and metrology.
• Desirable: robot control experience and drawings reading.
• Engineering qualification or apprenticeship required; driving licence UK is needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer components for coating, including cleaning, masking and blasting.
• Apply thermal spray coatings using HVOF, Plasma and Wire Spray processes.
• Operate semi-automatic and robotic equipment safely and efficiently.
• Conduct goods-in and in-process inspections.
• Read engineering drawings and follow process documentation.
• Maintain powders, jigs and fixtures to support production needs.
• uphold safety, quality and housekeeping standards.
