Our client is a well-established scrap metal recycling facility based in South Yorkshire, committed to responsible recycling, environmental compliance, and operational excellence. We are looking for a commercially astute and hands-on individual to oversee the financial, regulatory, and operational functions of the business.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Metal Recycling Trading Manager responsible for the financial health and regulatory compliance of the business. Key duties include buying and selling materials, managing Sage accounts, handling daily commercial operations, and ensuring compliance with health & safety, transport, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee the buying and selling of materials, ensuring prompt and accurate paperwork processing.
2. Maintain Sage accounting records and liaise with external accountants for compliance and reporting.
3. Manage health and safety systems in accordance with NEBOSH standards, fostering a safe working environment.
4. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
5. Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies and keep compliance up to date.
6. Apply a practical, hands-on approach, with knowledge of mechanical processing or engineering operations being advantageous.

Skills & Experience

1. Proven experience in a commercial or operational management role, preferably in recycling or an industrial setting.
2. Strong financial skills, with experience in Sage or similar accounting software.
3. Knowledge of environmental and waste management regulations.
4. Understanding of VOSA/HGV compliance requirements is desirable; full training will be provided.
5. Practical, team-oriented mindset, adaptable to industry demands.
6. Engineering or mechanical knowledge is a plus.
