Job Title: Metal Recycling Trading Manager

Our client is a well-established scrap metal recycling facility based in South Yorkshire, committed to responsible recycling, environmental compliance, and operational excellence. As a small but dynamic team, we are looking for a commercially astute and hands-on individual to oversee the financial, regulatory, and operational functions of the business.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a proactive Metal Recycling Trading Manager to take responsibility for the financial health and regulatory compliance of the business. This role will cover everything from buying and selling materials, managing Sage accounts, and handling day-to-day commercial operations, to ensuring full compliance with health & safety, transport, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the buying and selling of materials, ensuring all associated paperwork is processed promptly and accurately.
2. Maintain Sage accounting records and liaise with external accountants to ensure financial compliance and reporting.
3. Manage health and safety systems in line with NEBOSH standards, promoting a safe working environment.
4. Ensure all business-critical regulations are met.
5. Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and ensure up-to-date compliance.
6. Apply a practical, hands-on approach when required, with an understanding of mechanical processing or engineering operations being a distinct advantage.

Skills & Experience:

1. Proven experience in a commercial or operational management role, ideally in a recycling or industrial environment.
2. Strong financial acumen, with hands-on experience using Sage or similar accounting software.
3. Knowledge of environmental and waste management compliance.
4. Understanding of VOSA/HGV compliance requirements would be ideal, however full training is given.
5. A practical, team-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to the hands-on nature of the industry.
6. Engineering or mechanical knowledge is a distinct advantage.
