Perfect Placement UK Ltd is assisting a leading nationwide automotive accident repair group by recruiting a MET Technician for their Swindon facility. This role suits experienced automotive technicians seeking to specialise in vehicle body repair or those pursuing relevant qualifications to advance.

The position offers a negotiable salary based on experience, with a performance-related bonus up to £52,000 per annum. Typical hours are 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Qualifications

• Recognised MET/vehicle body repair qualification or working towards ATA/IMI.
• Proven MET/Strip fit experience.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• UK driving licence with minimal points.
• Good attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Confident working independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Removal of damaged vehicle parts to facilitate repairs.
• Storage of displaced parts for refitting.
• Inspect for additional damage and requisition required parts from VDA.
• Verify parts accuracy and completeness for smooth repairs.
• Refit vehicle panels post-repair while maintaining tolerances.
• Replace mechanical components as required (steering, drivetrain, engine).
• Reset Vehicle Control Units using diagnostic equipment.
• Follow health and safety legislation and company procedures.
• Attend regular safety training sessions.
• Maintain tools and equipment.

Our client, a leading nationwide automotive accident repair group with over 30 sites, is seeking to appoint a MET Technician at their Swindon facility. Duties of the MET Technician:

• Removal of damaged vehicle parts to facilitate repairs
• Correct and secure storage of displaced parts for refitting
• Inspection for additional damage and requisition of necessary parts from Vehicle Damage Assessor
• Verification of parts accuracy and completeness to ensure smooth vehicle repair progress
• Refit of vehicle panels post-repair, maintaining manufacturer tolerances and avoiding damage
• Replacement of mechanical components such as steering, drivetrain, and engine parts as required
• Resetting Vehicle Control Units using diagnostic equipment
• Following all health and safety legislation and company procedures
• Attending regular safety training sessions
• Maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials
• Performing additional activities as directed

Requirements of the MET Technician:

• Recognised qualification in automotive MET/vehicle body repair or working towards an ATA/IMI qualification
• Proven experience in a similar MET/Strip fit role
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
• Confident working independently and within a team
• A valid UK driving licence with minimal points
