Job summary

Auto Skills UK invites an experienced Multi-Skilled MET Technician to join our Newport-based bodyshop. You'll work on mechanical, electrical and trim repairs on accident-damaged vehicles, with an earnings potential up to £52,000 OTE and a Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00 pattern.

You will be part of a modern workshop team, delivering high-quality repairs and maintaining manufacturer standards while progressing your career through ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled MET Technician in an automotive bodyshop.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim knowledge across vehicle systems.
• Experience diagnosing faults and performing complex repairs.
• Ability to work to manufacturer repair methods and quality standards.
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical, electrical and trim repair work on accident-damaged vehicles.
• Perform complex strip and refit and ensure repairs meet manufacturer procedures.
• Diagnose faults and identify required repairs and reworks.
• Coordinate with workshop team to maintain throughput and quality.

THE ROLE

As an Experienced Multi-Skilled MET Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out a broad range of Mechanical, Electrical and Trim repair activities on accident-damaged vehicles. Your versatility and technical knowledge will be key to ensuring vehicles are repaired efficiently, safely and to the highest possible standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out mechanical, electrical and trim removal and refitting on accident-damaged vehicles
• Complete complex strip and refit work using appropriate manufacturer repair methods
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and identify the correct repair requirements
• Carry out repairs and checks involving suspension, steering, braking and associated vehicle systems
• Carry out wheel alignment and associated checks where required
• Work closely with Panel Technicians, Paint Technicians, VDA/Estimators and Workshop Controllers to maintain efficient vehicle throughput
• Identify additional damage or repair requirements and communicate these effectively to the relevant team
• Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer procedures, quality standards and Health & Safety requirements

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced and technically capable Multi‑Skilled MET Technician who can confidently work across mechanical, electrical and trim disciplines and takes pride in delivering high-quality accident repairs.

• Proven experience as a Multi‑Skilled MET Technician within an automotive accident repair centre or bodyshop
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim knowledge
• Strong mechanical repair and diagnostic experience
• Good understanding of suspension, steering and braking systems
• Strong wheel alignment knowledge and experience
• Experience carrying out complex strip, repair and refit procedures
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle construction and manufacturer repair methods
• Ability to diagnose faults and resolve technical repair issues effectively
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work efficiently within a busy, fast-paced production environment
• Reliable, professional and motivated approach to work
• Strong team player with good communication skills
• Ideally IMI and/or ATA qualified (advantageous but not essential)
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred
