Role Purpose:

To collaborate with the buying teams in making commercially sound decisions regarding stock, maximizing sales, margin, and income, while minimizing stock risk.

To explore and implement department, business, and cross-functional strategies through category analysis and planning.

Here's what a typical day includes:
  • Planning the optimal range/assortment by store group alongside the buying team.
  • Managing the range review process, ensuring adherence to the critical path.
  • Overseeing category stock budgets and continuously reviewing stock quality for optimization.
  • Managing discontinued lines to minimize margin impact.
  • Supporting strategic decisions regarding space and associated budgets.
  • Setting customer-focused merchandising principles aligned with business guidelines.
  • Analyzing trials and initiatives to provide insights and recommend next steps.
  • Supporting other tasks within the merchandising team and participating in various business projects in collaboration with departments like finance, marketing, supply chain, and more.

  • Experience in merchandising or related fields like demand planning or category insight.
  • Strong attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Good verbal reasoning skills and the ability to interpret and present data to stakeholders.
  • Numeracy and analytical skills.
  • A proactive attitude with problem-solving capabilities.
  • An aptitude to challenge the status quo and identify misleading figures.
  • Team orientation and collaborative spirit.
  • Customer focus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with a strong aptitude for working with spreadsheets.
