Job summary

Michael Taylor Search & Selection Ltd is seeking an MEP QA Engineer to support QA/QC across HS2 rail infrastructure projects. You will work with the Project Manager, site team and subcontractors to ensure works meet HS2 requirements, approved designs, ITPs and standards.

The role involves regular site inspections, preparing and maintaining ITPs, coordinating inspections, and assisting with NCRs and close-out. A competitive package includes a car allowance, pension, healthcare and bonus.

Responsibilities

• Support QA/QC procedures across HS2 rail infrastructure projects.
• Ensure works comply with approved drawings, specs, ITPs and HS2 requirements.
• Perform regular site inspections to monitor workmanship and materials quality.

• Coordinate inspections, hold points and witness points with the project team and client.
• Review subcontractor quality documentation and ensure compliance with requirements.

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, approvals and quality activities.
• Assist with technical reviews to identify potential quality issues early.

Job description

The MEP QA Engineer will support the delivery of quality assurance and quality control activities across HS2 rail infrastructure projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineers, Site Management and subcontractors, the role will ensure works are delivered in accordance with HS2 requirements, approved designs, specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), relevant standards and company procedures.

Salary: 75,000 + travel expenses = car allowance + pension + healthcare + bonus.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of QA/QC procedures across HS2 rail infrastructure projects.
• Ensure construction and M&E works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs and HS2 requirements.
• Carry out regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, materials and installation quality.
• Prepare, review and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and associated quality documentation.
• Coordinate inspections, hold points and witness points with the project team, client and relevant stakeholders.
• Review subcontractor quality documentation and ensure works are completed in accordance with approved requirements.
• Assist with the management and close-out of NCRs, defects, observations and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, approvals and quality-related activities.
• Assist with technical reviews of construction and installation activities and identify potential quality issues at an early stage.
• Support testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities where required.
• Participate in system walkdowns and inspections ahead of testing, commissioning and handover.
• Ensure all relevant inspection and testing records are completed, signed and filed correctly.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with project quality requirements and approved documentation.
• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project Quality Plans and associated procedures.
• Support internal and external quality audits and ensure any actions are followed through to completion.
• Assist with the compilation of O&M manuals, as-built information, test certificates, inspection records and handover documentation.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates on quality issues, inspections, NCRs and outstanding actions.
• Record and communicate lessons learned and support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with Project Engineers, Site Managers and subcontractors to promote a Right First Time approach.
• Ensure all QA documentation is maintained in line with project and company requirements.
• Support the project team in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and HS2 quality requirements.
